The Author
Clifford Peacock was born in Canada and brought to England at a young age by his parents. Following grammar school and national service he worked in Northern Kenya on the development of water supplies. Returning to UK after colonial independence he obtained a master’s degree and taught in the science department of a Birmingham college. He was awarded a doctorate and became a senior lecturer in Ninewells medical school.

The column is attacked by hostile tribesmen and there are dramatic crossings of crocodile infested rivers. There is bravery and heartache before a most surprising ending.
